Introduction
Welcome to week 9! Today we continue to build grammar, vocabulary and practice our reading skills.
Task 1 - Let's review conditional 0 (10 minutes)
El zero conditional (condicional cero) sirve para formar oraciones donde tanto la condición como el resultado son hechos reales. El mejor ejemplo de este tipo de oraciones son las relacionadas con argumentos científicos.
Opción 1:
If + Condición (oración con verbo conjugado en present simple) + Resultado (oración con verbo conjugado en present simple)
If you mix red and blue, you get purple (Si mezclas rojo y azul, obtienes morado).
Opción 2:
Resultado (oración con verbo conjugado en present simple) + if + Condición (oración con verbo conjugado en present simple).
An ice cube melts if you put in the sun (Un cubo de hielo se derrite si lo pones bajo el sol).

Task 3 - Let's review the 1st conditional.
El first conditional (primer condicional) se utiliza para plantear escenarios en el futuro cuya realización es muy probable. Por ello, es el condicional indicado para expresar planes.
Opción 1:
If + Condición (oración con verbo conjugado en present simple) + will + Resultado (oración con verbo en infinitivo).
If everyone agrees, we will go to Spain next year (Si todos están de acuerdo, vamos a España el próximo año).
Opción 2:
Resultado (oración con verbo en infinitivo) + will + if + Condición (oración con verbo conjugado en present simple).
We may rent it if we like the apartment (Lo podríamos rentar si nos gusta el departamento).
El second conditional (segundo condicional) ya entra en el terreno de escenarios imaginarios hipotéticos. Se usa para plantear ideas irreales del presente o acciones en el futuro que resultan poco probable.
ESTRUCTURA
Opción 1:
If + Condición (oración con verbo conjugado en past simple) + would + Resultado (oración con verbo en infinitivo).
Opción 2:
Resultado (oración con verbo en infinitivo) + would + if + Condición (oración con verbo conjugado en past simple).
EJEMPLOS
If I won the lottery, I would buy a house (Si me ganara la lotería, me compraría una casa).
You would speak Japanese if you lived in Japan (Tú hablarías japonés si vivieras en Japón).
